Boat cruises Alappuzha (Alleppey) also called Venice of the East in Kerala, India

There are a large number of facilities available for boat cruises in kerala. They include boat services by the kerala state water transport department, the state tourism department  and by private operators. There are regular passenger boats, ferries, special boats and house boats.

See Kuttanad Boat Cruise . This is budget boat cruise run by the Kerala State Water Transport Department . It provides tourists will a view of the beautiful landscape of kuttanad with lakes, paddy fields and backwaters.

Starting from the bus-stand jetty ( near the KSRTC bus station in the heart of alappuzha town ), the boat will touch Soman Jetty, Arjunan Jetty, Kavunkal, Kuppapuram, Puthenkayal, Pandissery, LC Jetty, pass via School Jetty and end at the Kainakary Roadmukku Jetty.

Return trip: Goventha, Muttel, Kolathu, EMS, Kannitta, Punchiri and Vilakumaram and reach Alappuzha via the backwaters where the Nehru Trophy boat race is held.

Daily 13 trips : First one starting at 10.45 a.m., and the last one, at 8.45 p.m.
On special festival days like Deepavali there may be additional boat trips.

No trip to alappuzha is complete without taking a ride on a uniquely build traditional kerala houseboat or kettuvalom in the backwaters canals and lakes of alappuzha, in case you miss it, it would be like going to Venice and not take a gondola ride.
