Kottayam Boat Race Thazhathangadi
It was the first competition organised in a categorised manner. The competition traces its beginning in the existing form to 1888-90 period, when the then Diwan Peshkar T. Rama Rao organised the race. The Diwan categorised the boats for the event as Chundans, Veppus, Irittukuthis and Churulans.
