Alleppey (Alappuzha) district Kerala, India

Alleppey (alternative spelling: Allepey; alternative name: Alappuzha) is a district of the state of Kerala in India. Alappuzha is also the name of a town and district headquarters of Alleppey/ alappuzha district.

Alleppey, a town with picturesque canals, backwaters and lagoons, was described as the "Venice of the East" by Lord curzon. The district is famous for houseboats or kettuvallams.
